Cormac McCarthy’s Annotations of William Gays Writing

When William was corresponding and talking on the phone with Cormac McCarthy at one point in one of their phone conversations Cormac asked William if he had written anything and, when he discovered that William was an unpublished writer, he offered to read something William had written. William was working on an early draft of what was to become Provinces of Night and sent Cormac a sample that William’s daughter typed for him. Cormac marked up every page and commented in the margins. Below are scans of these pages.
